V & A MUSEUM EXPANSION
Architect Amanda Levete and her firm AL_A designed an expansion for the Victoria & Albert Museum in London completed in 2017.
The addition creates a new entrance through a courtyard as well as more gallery space. Skylights open to the underground spaces from the courtyard. The architects were inspired by the museum’s ceramic collection to design custom tiles for the courtyard. Perforated screens are incorporated along Exhibition Road and bomb damage from World War II remains.
Enjoy a snack in the courtyard’s cafe or in the museum’s own restaurant. Be sure to see this museum when you are in London.
