SIR John SOANE MUSEUM

Established in 1837, the Sir John Soane House is the neoclassical architect’s former home in London that he established as a museum.

The house integrates his collection of drawings and models along with art and artifacts. Soane purchased two adjacent row houses to hold his collection. Objects are juxtaposed in very close proximity. The most richly layered elements are in the rear of the building with his ingenious experiments with skylights and space to bring in natural light and to display his collection.

There are inventive uses of mirrors and storage spaces. Grab a drink in one of London’s historic pubs like The Blue Posts that was established in 1739.
