The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art reopened in 2016 with a ten story addition designed by the Norwegian architects Snohetta. The original building facing Third Street was designed in 1995 by the Swiss architect Mario Botta. The facade is covered with rippling white fiberglass reinforced plastic panels.

Hunters POINT LiBRARY

Located on a prominent site along the East River in Gantry Plaza State Park, the Hunters Point Library was designed by Steven Holl Architects and opened in 2019.

To maximize green space, the architects designed a vertical structure with an aluminum painted concrete shell. Large windows are carved out of the shell, with views of the Manhattan skyline. Stairs connect multiple levels for children, teen and adult program areas.
