BOURSE DE COMMERCE
Opened in 1767, the Bourse de Commerce was used as a commodities exchange in Paris.
An open-air court was enclosed by a dome in the 19th century, 60 meters in diameter. In 2021 it became an exhibition space for contemporary art for the Pinault Collection designed by Tadao Ando. His design preserves the historic features and inserts a concrete cylinder 29 meters in diameter and 9 meters high below the dome with an auditorium in the basement. A stairway circles the cylinder, providing access to the upper levels with galleries along the existing perimeter. Frescoes inside the dome were restored showing trade around the world. The spaces created suit the exhibitions and the historic architecture.
There is a restaurant on the top level or try one of the nearby cafes like Calibre’.
