ALHAMBRA Granada

Begun in 1238 in Granada Spain, the Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex of Islamic architecture on the edge of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

It’s now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Across a canyon is the Generalife Palace with its courtyard and garden. The Court of the Myrtles is located in the Comares Palace with its reflective pool. The Palace of the Lions has an arcaded portico surrounding a courtyard with a fountain. In the buildings, mosaics on lower walls are complemented with wood ceilings and carved stucco above that has geometric patterns, plant motifs and inscriptions in Arabic. For a meal before or after your visit try La Mimbre.
